take your life back

devil made me

devil made me do it

you can say, “the devil made me do it.”

or you can say, “i will create good habits and become their slave.”

i used to say, “the devil made me do it.” just like my friend, paul. (paul would tell me, “alvin, i just don’t understand myself. i decide to do one thing – the right thing. but i do another thing – the very thing that i absolutely despise. i can’t trust myself to do the right thing. it is obvious i need help.”)

note to admin: snOOzin’ is losin’

link to paul’s angst in TakeYourLifeBack – Resources – like Your Creator Ain’t Done with You Yet. To show the revised quote (Romans 7:15-25 – AGG) without distracting sidebar ads in BibleGateway. name of page? name of permalink? (hitting the snOOze button again, snOOzin’ is losin’, living by the snooze button, yur snoozin’ is another form of quittin’)

but then i decided to create good habits – good routines – and become their slave. now i no longer say, “the devil made me do it.” (like my friend, paul.)

talk dirty to me.

nor do i have to “re-invent the wheel” every morning. i do not have to make decisions while my inner devil is talking dirty to me and saying, “hit the snooze button.”

instead my habits carry me through those moments when my inner devil is speaking to me.

you get to chOOse.

you can continue to say, “it’s not my fault. the devil made me do it.”

hit the snooze button for the rest of your life. keep procrastinating. and keep getting what you’ve been getting. and keep blaming other people for your lack of success.

like blaming other people for your lack of focus and your lack of execution. that excuse stops today. no more snooze button for you.

keep blaming other people for your lack of success.

you get to choose. choose to listen to and obey your inner self-sabotaging demon.

or face your truth…

…and say, “i take total responsibility for where i am in life. i will form good habits and become their slave.”

face the scary truth.

face your fears

face the fact that you created your failure habits.

face the fact that you have made bad choices.

just you. you are the one who must replace your failure habits with habits that will help you to succeed.

you must replace your toxic habits of “lack of focus and execution.” with habits that move you forward.

the magic is in the habits and the process.

there is no magic in good intentions. there is no magic in big goals and pictures pasted on a pretty “dream board.” these are all ok, maybe even good. but…

…the magic is in daily grinding.

  • (1) embrace your BIG why.
  • (2) get meSSy.
  • (3) gr-r-r-rind daily.
  • (4) rinse and repeat daily.
focus on the one thing - the process
Focus on the Process | NOT the Outcome | Magic is in the Process

form good daily habits

daily grinding works best by using good habits.

lose the snOOze button

let these good habits become your daily routines. focus on your inner person first. treat yourself – your inner person – as your #1 priority.

ya gotta defeat your inner devil that says, “everything’s gonna be ok. relax and hit that snooze button one more time.”

form some new good habits to replace your failure habits. and have daily routines that you keep. without exceptions.

my grandma said, “great chefs eat their own cooking.”

i say, “great writers read their own writing.”

experts say, “great mentors follow their own teaching.”

get a tough mentor

take your life back
get a tough mentor

a great mentor understands the value of grinding.

people who achieve great things are constantly working on their inner person, that spiritual person who controls your thoughts and actions. successful people give their inner person good nutrition, not junk food and not toxic energy drinks that give you a  quick boost followed by a long crash. feed your inner person well. no more quick fixes.

get a fitness and nutritional mentor for your inner person.

get a spiritual coach. a tough spiritual coach.

you may not like your mentor

get a mentor to help you. but not an easy one. get one who cares enough about you to hold you accountable. who will encourage (force) you to grind when you feel like quitting.

and join a tribe that wants to change.

ya snOOze ya lose

“ya snOOze ya lose” is much more than just an overused expression. snoozing is losing.

find a mentor who does not believe in snOOze buttons of any kind.

ya don’t need to like your mentor. or even think that he/she likes you. but ya gotta respect your mentor enough to do what they say.

not yo momma

a good mentor is not gonna tell you, “honey, you’re gonna be ok.” your mentor is not your momma. a good mentor will say, “it’ll never be ok if you do not change. if you don’t change, things will only get worse.”

i don’t care if ya like me.

if ya still don’t understand what i mean, understand this: get a mentor who will kick your ass every day.

for now, let me your temporary mentor. just for now. i don’t care if ya like me. i just want to help you become all that your creator designed you to be.

your creator designed you to be more than what you are today. and that’s a good thing. your creator has GREAT plans for you. click here to know more about that. “you don’t know it all. your creator does. your creator will help to keep you on track.”

no snOOze button

my daily routines are not your routines. nor do i claim to be the best example. but i must be transparent with you. it’s the right thing to do. as you are reading my routines, start planning your routines. with no “snooze buttons.”

experts say that your morning routine is your most important routine. and other experts say the best way to have a great morning routine is to have a great evening routine. i believe both of them.

here are my daily routines – without exception (? – when i make mistakes, i allow myself to rebOOt. let’s talk about how and when to rebOOt later.) create a morning routine that will change your inner person first.

feed your inner superhero. and he will defeat all of your inner demons.

morning routine

have a solid morning routine
  • 04:04 a.m. – (03:30 a.m. – sometimes earlier – i do not lie in bed and stare at the clock) – i start with reading / writing TakeYourLifeback (in any form – blog, flipbook, EVERnote, personal notebook). usually reading inspiration from my phone before the alarm sounds.
  • note: the best mornings begin the night before – with prep – the experts say this. and i believe them.
  • “everybody wants to be a beast until it’s time (4:04 a.m.) to do what beasts do.”  – eric thomas – the hip hop preacher
  • “i’m weak. that’s why i let my habits make decisions for me at 4:04 a.m.” – alvin weiss – TakeYourLifeBack course designer
start your morning right
  • 05:00 a.m. – up, walk with et the hip hop preacher (youtube) on my phone
  • more reading / writing TakeYourLifeBack
  • reading / writing from EVERnote, blog
  • writing topics – your life, big why, grinding, habits – for me and for others, designing the next step in TakeYourLifeBack
  • 05:10 a.m. – (sometimes) racetrac office on colonial drive in orlando with my homeless peeps
  • check all biz statz
  • 06:00 a.m. corner office at panera bread, lake nona, florida – my private grinding place – working on top three projects / day from tri-fold 90 day planner (tri-fold display board from walmart – $1.99, cheap and easy to carry)
take your life back
$1.99 tri-fold project board
  • working on projects, work flows in drip, flipbooks, blogposts, FB LIVE vids
  • 12:30 p.m. – finish office hours / projects (6.5 hours of quality work)
  • 12:30 p.m. – emails, chillax a little
  • put on my grandpa cape with super powers and get ready for afternoon my grandpa uber routine

evening routine

your morning starts with your evening routine
  • 06:24 p.m. – call mom EVERY day – part of my amends for being such a shitty son
  • 08:30 p.m. – time varies – buffer for Facebook and Instagram
  • check all biz statz
  • amazon prime video – something that feeds my mind – nontoxic
  • not Bosch, Walking Dead, NBA 2K, House of Cards and other toxic mind wasters. remember your goal is to delete all toxins to create a better inner person – toxic free. Click here to learn more.
  • reality (transparency check) check –  i often lose to my inner demons – and binge on some useless videos – these are my demons and my unconquered addictions. this is one area where i struggle (just like my friend, paul). and one reason why i am creating and must be a student of TakeYourLifeBack.
  • reading emails and watching videos from my mentors – jeff walker, donald miller, stu mclaren, tribe programs and email and writing systems – drip, lead pages, lead digits, designrr, buffer and… learning from great (a select few) minds. (hey, i’ll create a resource list for you.)
  • writing / flipbooks / evernote for TakeYourLifeBack – constantly – as a student of life experiences
  • select three projects to complete the next day from my tri-fold 90 day planner (tri-fold display board from walmart – $1.99). these small display boards almost fit into a backpack. and make great mobile (and disposable) white boards.
  • these project boards are also great resources for discovering what works and what does not. and creating future timelines based on past performance on starting and completing projects. i can track the steps and time frames. great learning tools.

take your life back
simple and it works

field-tested by a human dummie

ya need to know this background info. what you’re reading is not all academic. everything has been field-tested by real people. people who have succeeded and failed. field-tested by people who have inner demons that you can not imagine. people who have survived their challenges and thrived. people who continue to struggle with inner demons and still survive and thrive. including the creator and designer of TakeYourLifeBack.

meet this guy named paul who really struggled.

here’s an excerpt from one of paul’s books. paul says, “i need help. i keep sabotaging my success. i do things i absolutely despise. this happens so often that is predictable. i’ve tried everything and nothing helps. i’m at the end of my rope.”

later paul asks for help. and gets help. but, first, paul had to admit defeat and ask for help. paul had to get a mentor and grind daily. paul  wrote some books, kicked some ass, changed some lives and made a difference in this world. just like you can. (Romans 7:15-25 – AGG version)

the BIG lie

many people share only their successes and lead you down a false path. like people who say “send me your money and register today for my course called ‘5 Easy Steps to a Better You.'”

i’m really tired of these people. maybe you are, too. that’s probably why you are reading this.

only a few mentors get real and have the courage to share their failures and successes equally. transparently.

by the way, think about it. when were your best learning experiences? when you succeeded and you thought you were invincible? when you believed you had succeeded all on your own? no.

coachable moments

or were you best learning moments, when you failed miserably? and you decided to review your mistakes so you would not repeat them again. i believe failure is a wonderful teacher if you will take the time to learn from your failures.

i used to coach elite soccer players. after a strong season and winning multiple matches, these players became increasingly difficult to coach and train. they thought, “we’re winners. we can’t be beaten. we know everything. and people say we are the elite athletes.” these players were difficult to teach especially after another BIG WIN at a significant tournament.

losses can be your friend if…

but after an embarrassing loss, every player became very coachable and eager to learn. they were highly motivated. they did not want to be embarrassed again. mistakes and losses are great coachable moments.

muddy and blOOdy

when you’re lying on the ground – muddy and bloody and defeated, then shit gets real. after a job loss, that ugly divorce, losing that big contract (especially when you have already mentally spent the commission dollars). these are your moments of truth and learning.

these are invaluable moments of truth and learning. if you take the time to learn the lessons that your creator was trying to teach you. and if you refuse to wallow in your misery. then these are your best teachable moments.
